Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources and Sharjah Islamic Bank sign a Memorandum of Understanding

Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources and Sharjah Islamic Bank signed a memorandum of understanding, at the headquarters of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources in Al-Liya, within the framework of “Waffer” loyalty programme that offers discounts to the employees of the Government of Sharjah, which is the first cooperation of the programme with the banking sector in the State. Such memorandum has the aim of expanding the sector base of the services provided to the employees of the Government of Sharjah, and signing saving contracts that serve them in their capacity as beneficiaries of Waffer card.
The memorandum was signed by H.E. Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim, Member of Sharjah Executive Council, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, on behalf of the Directorate, and H.E. Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, on behalf of the Bank, in the presence of managers, heads of departments and officers from both sides.
The memorandum provides both parties with a new platform of partnership and coordination, supporting the strategic directions of each and facilitating communication in the issues of mutual concern. It also defines the basic rules of cooperation that serves the public interest according to the capabilities, laws and regulations.
The memorandum also grants the employees of the Government of Sharjah, holders of “Waffer” card, several benefits as well as a package of discounts and facilities from Sharjah Islamic Bank. It provides material rewards upon the salary transfer to Sharjah Islamic Bank besides offers including the exemption from some conditions and some free services, special ratios regarding personal loans, flexibility of the due dates of the first instalment and postponement of instalments, and offers to facilitate the advance deposit, Al Qard Al Hasan (AQAH), car and real estate loans at special financing rates and profit margins, as well as rewards and benefits on Smiles travel miles card. All the employees of more than 65 departments and entities of the Government of Sharjah and the beneficiaries of Waffer Card shall benefit from the provisions of this agreement.
The signing of the memorandum, which includes the exchange of knowledge, support and expertise, comes in line with the approach of both parties based on community development, believing in the importance of strategic partnership that serves the public interest among the various segments of society.
This memorandum is also in line with the vision of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources aiming at promoting its role in providing distinguished and comprehensive services as a public service institution, while ensuring that all its customers are satisfied and happy and making sure to provide such services in a timely manner and with the required quality. It is also in line with the vision of Sharjah Islamic Bank, which insists to be a contributing party in promoting social responsibility, both in words and acts, as one of the basics of Islamic banking, and the mission of the bank in promoting solidarity and social cohesion.
H.E. Dr. Tariq Sultan Bin Khadim, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, said in a statement on this occasion, that the Directorate welcomes this special accession of Sharjah Islamic Bank, which represents an important economic weight in the Emirate of Sharjah.
He appreciated this partnership deemed as consistent with the wise visions and directions of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, may God preserve him, in uniting efforts and achieving integration between the government and private institutions and sectors, to enhance the partnerships that are based on reaching common goals, improving performance and service at the Emirate, striving for continuous improvement that embodies the best aspirations of the wise leaders of Sharjah.
He stated that the Directorate seeks, through its strategic plan, to provide incentives and distinguished services to the employees of the Government to contribute to their happiness and motivation, to increase their efficiency and productivity and provide an encouraging work environment for them. In turn, Waffer Programme is keen to fulfill all the needs of employees of all types of goods and products. He also appreciated the joint efforts of Sharjah Islamic Bank to finalise such cooperation that serves the employees of the Government of Sharjah.
He added that this memorandum is considered a qualitative addition to the efforts of the Directorate to build strategic partnerships with the banking sector and invest such partnerships in the development of services offered to all the employees of the departments, entities, institutions and authorities of the Government of Sharjah, whose number exceeds 55,000 employees in the entities, directorates and authorities of the Government of Sharjah, Sharjah police, retirees and beneficiaries of social subsidies.
From his side, H.E. Mohammed Abdullah, CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank, said: “The public and private sectors in the Emirate of Sharjah work hand in hand in light of the wise visions of H.H. Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassim, Member of Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah, may God preserve him, where various parties race to achieve his strategies and bright ideas, which reflects on the Emirate’s service and prosperity”.
The CEO of Sharjah Islamic Bank added: “This agreement comes within the framework of enhancing our cooperation with the various government entities in the Emirate of Sharjah and the State of the United Arab Emirates, based on our commitment to serve the community in order to contribute to growth and development. We are confident that these offers and facilities will allow the employees of the various local departments to obtain added value to the banking services and make better use of them”.
H.E. Mohammed Abdullah expressed his thanks and appreciation to H.E. Dr. Tariq Bin Khadim, Chairman of Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources, for his continuous cooperation since the launch of the idea until announcement thereof. He confirmed that the relationship between Sharjah Islamic Bank and Sharjah Directorate of Human Resources is an exceptional and strategic relationship that serves the Emirate of Sharjah.
